Linda "Darlene" Thornton, age 57, passed away in Mobile, AL on August 30, 2026.

She was a quiet and private person who cherished her solitude, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved relaxing at home while watching cooking, baking, and game shows. She also enjoyed playing bingo and Yahtzee.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Smith; brother, Jerry Pierce; sisters, Sylvia Smith and Diann Benson.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Donald Thornton; children, April (Joshua) Mills and Mitchell Pierce; grandchildren, Makila Bemer and Xander Mills; brothers, Terry Pierce and Billy Pierce; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.

Services will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 12:00 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
