Lita Capper

November 13, 1944 — July 7, 2024

Lita McDonald Capper, born on November 13, 1944, in Jasper, Alabama, passed away on July 7, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 79. A devoted Christian, Lita modeled her life and ethics after her grandparents, Lois and Jeff Dodson, embodying virtues of honesty, thrift, and hard work. She was truly a Proverbs 31 God fearing woman. Her love for animals shone brightly through her affection for her pet fox, FoxyLoxy and her Persian cat, Herman.

Lita spent her early years in Oak Hill, WV, then Winfield, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery AL before settling in Mobile in 1967. She worked diligently as a Certified Medical Technologist and later as a medical practice administrator.

Lita's life was rich with family connections. She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Neil Capper, MD, her children Karen Ann Lockhart (Dr. Randy), Kenneth Blake McDonald (Mandee), and her husband's sons Timothy Michael Capper (Karen) and Stephen Andrew Capper (Katherina). Lita also cared deeply for four foster boys (Ledford) from Childhaven Children's Home and cherished her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Vivian Todd, her son Daniel Keith McDonald, her brother Clark Davis McDonald, her sister Iris McDonald Curran, and her grandson Joseph Mark McDonald Pecot.

A graveside service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family will gather by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (6040 Three Notch Rd) then travel to the grave site for Lita's interment.
