Louis "Kent" Yrabedra, 75, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on October 16, 1949, in Mobile, Alabama, Kent lived a full and faithful life marked by love, service, and a deep connection to family, faith, and the outdoors.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy; his two sons: Adam (Bre) and Jason (Bonnie); and his five beloved grandchildren: Averie, Haley, Taylor Grayce, Annalee, and Beau. Kent was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Lee Yrabedra; and his brother, Ron Yrabedra.
Kent earned a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in counseling from the University of South Alabama. He began his career in education in Mississippi before returning to Mobile, where he served as Director of Student Life and Assistant Basketball Coach at Springhill College. He later transitioned into a successful career in sales, retiring from Gulf Coast Truck and Equipment.
Kent was well known for his love of the outdoors--particularly hunting and fishing. His time spent on the water with his sons and friends brought him great joy, and he earned a local reputation as one of the best flounder fishermen in the area.
A life-long member of the Church of Christ, Kent's faith was the quiet foundation of his life. He demonstrated his beliefs through consistent, gentle kindness and an unwavering devotion to those around him.
Above all else, Kent's greatest joy and purpose was his family. He showed up for them every single day with love, support, and presence. His strength, warmth, and selfless heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd., Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Mobile Christian School.
