Martha Spencer

Martha Spencer, beloved mother, was called to her eternal resting place on June 11, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

She entered this world on June 13, 1924 in Prichard, Alabama, born to Henry Herbert Andrews and Imogene Calloway Andrews. On December 24, 1941 , Martha Andrews married Samuel Ernest Spencer, Jr. , son of Reverend and Mrs. Samuel Ernest Spencer, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Wimberly Spencer Danos (Ken); grandchildren, Joshua Danos (Amber), Jacob Danos, Matthew Spencer (Dorie), and Andrew Spencer; great grandchildren, Mia Spencer, Molly Spencer, Max Spencer, Henry Danos, Baylor Danos and Emily Danos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Imogene Andrews; her husband, Samuel E. Spencer, Jr; her son, Samuel E. Spencer, III (Cindy); and her siblings, James Andrews (Lucille), Juanita Cate (Rufus), Lamar Andrews, and Robert Andrews (Julia).

Martha's career was in Secretarial and Administration in U. S. Civil Service. She retired after 28 years as a civil servant. For the past 8 years, she has resided at Somerby Independent Living and Assisted Living facilities where she made many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm all at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Those planning on only attending the graveside service can gather in the west parking lot of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to join the procession to the grave.
