Mary Elizabeth McLemore DeLorme died peacefully at home on October 30, 2014 of cancer. Liz was born June 28, 1925, in Sunflower County, MS to Claude Anding McLemore and Isla Elizabeth McLendon McLemore. She grew up in Crystal Springs, MS and graduated from Crystal Springs Consolidated School in 1944. She lived in many different places, including Chicago, Spain and San Jose, before she settled in Mobile, AL in 1980. She worked at the University of South Alabama until retiring in 1990, the same year she earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the age of 65. During that time she also attended the USA Flight School and obtained her private pilots license. Liz enjoyed traveling and took many trips across the US and abroad. She was also an avid reader and music lover with a wide range of interests. She was a huge fan and supporter of the South Alabama basketball program and enjoyed going to all the games with her friends. Aunt Sister leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Claudia McLemore Thomas of Sorrento, LA three nieces, Donna Thomas Hanner of Charlotte, NC, Terry Ann Thomas of DeLand, FL and Charlotte Thomas Melancon Timothy, of Sorrento, LA. one greatnephew, Robert Douglas Kissinger Caren two great nieces, Lynn Perry Jacobs and Karen Kissinger Muma Jay four greatgreatnephews, Seth Douglas Perry, Robert Thomas Kissinger, William Kerry Dotson and Jayson Alan Muma two greatgreat nieces, Charlotte Anne Sabin and Kathryn Ann Kissinger other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents brotherinlaw, Charles Douglas Thomas and greatnephew, Douglas Rowland Perry. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Garry Harrerd, will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
