Mary Hager

April 3, 1951 — December 20, 2021

Mary "Joanne" Hager unexpectedly gained her angel wings on Monday December 20, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Joanne was born in Pontotoc, MS but lived most of her life in Mobile, AL.

Your life was a blessing, your memory was a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Those of us that were Blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quality of time she stayed here. To know her was to love her. She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went.

She loved her family unconditionally and also her 2 dogs Susie and Sadie.
Joanne worked for Mobile County School System at B.C. Rain high school for 23 years. She worked in the cafeteria and loved all her kids as she called them and they equally loved her as well. She made sure they all had plenty to eat whether they had money or they did not. She kept them fed and always giving them extra. She didn't want anyone hungry, that was just her and her loving way.

Joanne was predeceased by her father James Alton Smith, her mother Mary Alfie Nichols and brother James Alton Smith, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her husband of 30 years John Russell Hager of Mobile, AL. Her only child and her heart, daughter Lisa Kearse Farmer of Saraland, AL. Her bonus daughter that she loved like her own Shannon Hager Pels of Denton, TX. Sisters, Kathy Skipper and Debbie Broadus (Glenn) of Mobile, AL. Brother Rickey Lee Smith (Terry) of Summerdale, AL.

She was a very proud grandmother (Nana) to Alex Farmer of Foley, AL, Jordan Farmer and Kara Farmer of Saraland, AL. Lauren Pels Wilson (Chad) of of Corinth, TX, and Brooke Pels Randall (Jake) of Denton, TX.

Great grandmother (Nana) to Ari Valladares of Saraland, AL, Leigha and Lucas Wilson of Corinth, TX and Stella and Tatum Randall of Denton, TX along with many other friends and family.
