Mary Ruth Todd

Mary Ruth Duren Todd, 96 years, a native of Tuscaloosa and resident of Chickasaw, Alabama, was called home to our Lord Sunday, June 16, 2024. Mary was a wonderful homemaker who immensely enjoyed cooking and feeding family and friends. Her cornbread and fried okra are still the talk of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Preston and Esther Duren, eight brothers and sisters, her husband of 63 years, Samuel Parker Todd, Jr., son Dana Todd, son-in-law Danny Head, and precious grandson Paul Bryant Todd. She is survived by her sister Muriel Palmquist, sons Cary Todd, Lanny (Melanie) Todd, daughter Donna Head, grandchildren Nicholas Todd, Daniel (Brooke) Head, Ashley Todd, Jennifer Head, Sarah (Matthew) Boben, and Graham Todd, great grandchildren Madison, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Grayson, Parker, Sophie and Daxton, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary was a long time member of Chickasaw Methodist Church, making special life-long friends in Christ as a member of the Beckham Sunday School class, UMW, and singing in the choir. She always looked to see if there were visitors and made a point to go greet them and welcome them. She loved her Church home and family. She loved cooking for the Bazaar or preparing a meal for a sick or bereaved family. Of course her favorite was kissing the babies in the nursery. You knew if your baby had pink lipstick on their cheek after church service that Mary Todd had been by the nursery and loved on them.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024, 10:30-11:30 at Chickasaw Methodist Church. Service begins at 11:30. Pall bearers will be Bryan McGrew, Nick Todd, Daniel Head, Parker Adkison, Graham Todd, and Matt Boben. ln lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Chickasaw Methodist Church, 108 Lee Street, Chickasaw, AL 36611.
