May J. Davidson
July 20, 1940 - October 20, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of May J. Davidson, age 86, of Chickasaw, Alabama, who passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
May was born on July 20, 1940, in Scooba, Mississippi, to James and Katie Joyner. She married the love of her life, Robert E. Davidson, on November 3, 1956, and together they shared 65 years of marriage and raised five sons.
Above all else, May was devoted to her family. She spent her life caring for the people she loved, always putting their needs before her own. Her love was unconditional, and no matter how old her children grew, she never stopped being their mother. Her home was always open, with a meal on the stove, a place at the table, and a warm welcome for family and friends. Taking care of others wasn't simply something May did; it was who she was.
May worked for AT&T until her retirement in 1992 and was a longtime member of the Fairhope Church of Christ. While she took pride in her work and her faith, her greatest joy was always her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
May is survived by her sons, Robert Davidson Jr., Richard Davidson, Chris Davidson, and Carl Davidson; 13 grandchildren, including her grandson Bobby "Little Bob" Davidson, who shared a special bond with his grandmother and made his home with her throughout his life; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Katie Joyner; her beloved husband, Robert E. Davidson; her son, James Davidson; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held from the graveside on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 11 am in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will will receive friends from 10am until service time Saturday at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
