Media Lanell (Nell) McConnell, a devoted Christian and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on August 10, 1935, and lived her life rooted in faith and love, In Grand Bay, Alabama.
Lanell's life was marked by unwavering devotion to her family and to the Lord. She was a steady and faithful presence, always offering warmth, kindness, and prayer to those around her. Her deep belief in God guided every step of her journey and was evident in the way she loved, served, and persevered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ben McConnell; her son, Larry McConnell; and several cherished brothers and sisters. While her heart endured many losses, her faith remained unshaken.
Lanell is survived by her daughter-in-law Linda McConnell, two grandsons, Casey McConnell and Chance McConnell (Meghan), and by her great-grandchildren, Mary McConnell, Annie McConnell, Emily McConnell, Avery McConnell, Braylon Jackson, and Camden Cotton, who were all the joy of her later years. She is also lovingly remembered by former daughters-in-law Amy Patrick and Regan McConnell Fulkerson, who remained part of her extended family along with Jenifer Thompson Chastang and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters.
Her legacy of faith, resilience, and love will live on in the lives of her family and all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
