Melbourne Dubon Pierce. Sr., age 98, resident of Mobile, Alabama, was born on July 22nd, 1927, and passed into Heaven on August 30th, 2025. He was the last living charter member of Forest Hill Church of God and was instrumental in building the first sanctuary.
Melbourne was preceded in death by; his wife of 63 years, Mae Alton (Berry) Pierce; He is survived by; his sons, Melbourne (Taunya) Dubon Pierce Jr., James (Wanda) Wayne Pierce, and George (Gina) Ervin Pierce; his grandsons, Trey Pierce, Todd Pierce, and Chad (Brittany) Pierce; four great-grandchildren, Krista, Christopher, Kenzie, and Cade; he is also survived by; two special nieces, Tina and Etta Ann, other cousins, nieces and nephews, and his pet quaker parakeet, Jimmy Dean.
Melbourne loved to play golf in his retirement years and walked 18 holes twice a week up until Covid hit and shut everything down.
The family wishes to thank his special nurse, Karen, as well as his CNA, Brittany, and his CNA companion sitter, Bobbye, for the special care he received in the last few months of his life.
Melbourne's home-going celebration will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at 2 P.M. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Derwood Perkins and Rev. Daniel Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, September 5th, 2025, from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
