Michael D. Sealy

Michael D Sealy (Big Mike) lost his battle with ALS on Monday September 16, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Mike was born on August 5, 1943 and had just celebrated his 81st birthday amid much laughter and joy with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Porter Sealy Summers, William E. Summers, Harold Aspen Sealy, and his brothers, Don Sealy and Fred Sealy as well as his grandson Sgt. John Curtis Sealy.

Mike is survived by his wife, Linda Sealy; sons, Michael Sealy (Cindy); Jim Sealy (Ann); stepdaughters Carolyn Ferenczi (Glen); Amy Clement, and his sisters Linda Sealy Knowles and Hope Summers Coaker (Lynn).

Big Mike, a Veteran US Marine, was an avid runner and is well known in the running community as "Mad Dog." He had numerous running friends and traveled to many states and a few countries to participate in various races and marathons. He was one of the last surviving runners to have participated in every single Azalea Trail Run since its inception in 1978, a fact that he was very proud of.

He retired from UOP (formerly Union Carbide) in Chickasaw, AL and fueled his passion for golf after retirement by working at Spring Hill Golf Course up until his diagnosis. Big Mike was also a loyal and enthusiastic USA and University of Alabama football fan. Mike was a member of West Mobile Baptist Church.

He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends, and most especially by his grandchildren, Abby, Anna, Harrison, Steele, and Lauren.

Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Mike will be buried with full military honors at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort at 2:00 p.m.
