Rebecca Jett

November 27, 1979 — June 3, 2023

Rebecca "Becky" Jett, 43, of Semmes, AL, passed away on June 3rd after fighting a long battle with cancer. She was a proud, loving mother and one of the strongest people we've ever known. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of South Alabama. Becky was an educator until the end. As a teacher for almost 20 years, she touched the lives of hundreds of students and their families, sharing her light and gifts without reservation. She gave selflessly and loved endlessly. Anyone who knew her was a friend. She gave her time to The Our Friends Ministry at Kingswood United Methodist Church, helping our unhoused neighbors in the community. She believed with her whole heart that all people are deserving of dignity, love, and equal rights. She also loved her pets, including her two dogs Dixie and Ella, a cockatiel named Nugget, and a bearded dragon named Saban.

She is survived by; her mother, Carole Jett (Semmes); sister, Stephanie Jett (Milledgeville, GA); and son, Jack Collins-Jett; as well as many other family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Sidney Jett.

We will gather on Saturday, June 10th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to celebrate her life at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619. Our cousin, Father Buddy Noel, will say a few words in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please choose a nonprofit or mutual aid organization to donate to in her honor. Her heart was bigger than anyone we have ever known and her generosity knew no bounds. Please honor her kind and generous spirit by giving freely and loving your community without reservation.
