Renata Amalia Jones (nee Kobelja) was born in Split, Croatia (December 2, 1939 - January 16, 2024) to parents Louise Kobelja and Ignacije Kobelja. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Curtis Jones of Mobile, AL; brother Carl Kobelja and spouse Vicki; children Carl Jones and spouse Renee, Dottie Box (nee Jones) and spouse Shane, grandson Paul Bailey, Jr. and spouse Elena; and numerous nieces, nephews, her dear friend Jane Ziplies and many other friends from her church fellowship.
Renata devoted her life to her husband and family, always putting others first, during sickness and in health. She was an active member of Government Street Baptist church. Renata lived her faith by teaching Sunday school and participating in bible study, knitting blankets for newborns at USA Medical Center, sewing pillows for breast cancer patients, while volunteering and donating to various other charities. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and working puzzles, especially after retiring from a 30-year accounting career at Helmsing, Leach, Herlong, Newman & Rouse law firm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to charities Renata supported, including Doctors Without Borders, Salvation Army, Feeding the Gulf Coast and Waterfront Mission.
