Robert Douglas Grubbs, a native of Charleston, WV and current resident of Dauphin Island, AL, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the age of 76. He worked over 30 years and retired as a social worker and was an avid reader. He was a member of St. Mary's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Samuel Grubbs and Eva Josephine Jarrell Grubbs; his son, Michael Grubbs and his sister, Sue Grubbs Sharps. His survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Nuhfer Grubbs; six children, Martha Grubbs, Bobby (Amy) Grubbs, Emily Grubbs, Emil Thomas (Cynthia) Bryant, David Michael (Beverly) Bryant and Stephen Ray Bryant; one brother, Michael Grubbs; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM from St. Mary's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, 4875 Highway 188, Coden, AL.
