Robert French (Bob) Stanley went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2026. Bob was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on March 26, 1949, to William Oliver and Mable Early Stanley. He attended Aberdeen schools from elementary through high school. In August 1968 Bob joined the United States Marine Corps and served on active duty for four years, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His service in the Marine Corps had a profound, positive impact on him and he remained proud of his service throughout his life.

After his military discharge, Bob began working in the construction industry as a pipefitter on major petrochemical and power projects. He was a very intelligent man and hard worker and was soon promoted into construction management. Bob had assignments as project manager over refinery construction, offshore facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing plants and other major facilities. Bob had many friends and colleagues and was liked and respected by all. His last assignment was as area construction manager for TransCanada on the Keystone Pipeline project. It was during this time in 2018 that he had a debilitating stroke which prevented him from continuing to work as before.

In 1989 Bob married Tammy Lynette Smith. Lynette passed away on August 19, preceding Bob by two weeks. They had no children but considered their nieces and nephews, Bo, Todd and Allison Stanley, and Alicia Funkhouser as theirs. Bo and Todd were both Marine Corps veterans which added to the brotherly bond. In addition to Lynette, Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathy Jean Burnett. He is survived by his brother, Oliver, and sister-in-law Cathy Stanley.

Bob was a Gideon who loved the Lord. He enjoyed speaking at various churches and other venues to promote the Gideon mission of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and providing Bibles throughout the world.

The family would like to express gratitude to Springhill Hospice nurse, Wes, aide, Rolanda, and social worker, Attalia, for their excellent and devoted care and treatment of Bob.
