Roger Lee Mott, age 93, a native of Tibbie, Alabama and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. He was employed by the State of Alabama 1950-1952. Then he was drafted into the US Army being discharged from the Army in 1954, while serving as Battalion Sergeant Major. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with majors in accounting and business administration in 1957. 1957-1978 was employed by Southern Industries Corporation in Mobile, working as a supervisor of the data processing department. 1979, he was employed by the State of Alabama as a Revenue Examiner and retired in 1999. In December 1957, he married Marie Pilot. Their wedding was first in the new sanctuary at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, later to become the chapel. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1959 and served on various committees as well as Sunday School Youth Leader for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Mott; parents, Lee and Christine Mott; brother, Robert Lee Mott; brother-in-law, Walter "Sonny" Pilot. He is survived by brother, Raymond C. Mott (Cynthia Byrd Mott); 2 sisters-in-law, Darthoy Cook Mott, Grace Giles Pilot; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will held from Cottage Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 1 PM. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time Wednesday at the church.
