Rosa Faye Dungan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosa Faye Dungan, born on October 10, 1947, in Silas, Alabama. She left us peacefully at her daughter's home on November 24, 2025, at the age of 78. A longtime resident of Fairford, Alabama and Mount Vernon, Alabama, Faye was known for her warm smile and outgoing personality. If she was joking or picking on you, there was no doubt that Faye loved you. Faye developed many friendships throughout the years as an Owner and Manager of Jenkins convenience store and Rudy's Short Stop, by driving a school bus and working at The 43 Club and Ole Melvins. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, dancing, trips to the casino, spending time at the camp in Nanafalia and annual trips to the Smoky Mountains and Arkansas. Faye attended Calvert Church of the Nazarene and Lockler Memorial Baptist Church. Faye loved family reunions, get-togethers and having a good time with those dear to her.

Faye was preceded in death by her son, James Richard Jenkins; parents, Jack and Mary S. Tindle; sister, Jackie Dungan; brother, Leland Tindle; husband, Ray Dungan; nephew/stepson, Ronnie Dungan; and Sheila's father, James Rudolph Jenkins, whom she remained close friends with.

Faye is survived by her beloved daughter, Sheila Jenkins (Kem), who will forever cherish the memories they shared. Those also left to cherish her memory are, her brother, Liston Tindle; sister, Mary Lou Walker (Bobby), numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins; fur babies, Fancy Bell, Lightnin Bug, and Angel; close friends, Pauline Mosley (Ray) and Pat Smith.

A wake will be held at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church -18995 St. Stephens Road, Mount Vernon, Alabama on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 6:00-9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held to honor Faye's life on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM at Lockler Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Perkins, Rev. Tim Sullivan, Rev. Gary Pickard and Bro. Liston Tindle officiating. Following the service, Faye will be laid to rest in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery - 5257 Fairford Road, McIntosh, Alabama.

In this time of loss, we encourage everyone to come together to celebrate Faye's life and the joy she brought us all. Those who knew Faye will remember her kind spirit and the laughter she brought into the lives of those around her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to Inhabit Home Health and her nurse, Paige; and Inhabit Hospice and her nurse, Erica, for the compassion and special care shown to Faye during her sickness.
