Roy Marvin Kennedy, Jr., a native of Camden, AR died Saturday, at the age of 90. Roy graduated from Camden High School in 1942 and attended Texas AM University. In 1943 he entered the Army Air Corp and served active duty, flying B17s during WWII. After serving in the military, he resumed his education and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1948. Roy married Patty Sue Hammond in 1950. He began his professional career with International Paper Co. in 1952 in Camden, AR. During his time at IP, he worked in Panama City, FL Springhill and Bastrop LA, Moss Point, MS Pine Bluff, AR Georgetown, SC and Mobile, AL. He went to work for Beloit Corporation in Mobile, AL in 1963, retiring in 1984. Roy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patty Sue Hammond Kennedy two daughters, Karel Doggette and Lisa Chuck Miller one son, Roy Michael Rita Barfield Kennedy eight grandchildren, Kiley Jeffery Biggs, Caroline Ron Bishop Chase, William and Tripp Miller Courtney Taylor LaFontaine, Michael Kennedy and Britney Barfield two nephews, Patrick and Stephen McGuire four greatgrandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Marvin Kennedy, Sr. and Bessie Cawthon Kennedy his sister, Betty Lou Kennedy McGuire and infant greatgranddaughter, Lillie Grace LaFontaine. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
