Sarah Elizabeth Pitman DeWitt passed away peacefully at home Thursday, September 18, 2014. Mrs. DeWitt was born on August 30, 1922 and was a longtime resident of Wilmer and Semmes, AL. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Wilmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charlie Franklin DeWitt, Jr. her brother, Raymond Franklin Pittman and her parents, William Gordon and Lillie Fleming Pitman. She is survived by her son, William Franklin Carol DeWitt of Semmes, AL brother, Thomas Drayton Mildred Pitman, of Xenia, OH sister, Mary Kathrine Boyles, of Jackson, AL seven nieces, other family members and friends. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Terry Glasscock and Rev. Richard Blaine, will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 12 Noon from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10:00 AM until Noon. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
