Obituary

Shannon Dwayne Stone, age 63, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026.

Shannon dedicated many years of his life to serving families in the funeral profession, where he was known for his compassion, professionalism, and commitment to helping others during their time of need. Outside of his career, one of his greatest passions was softball. He spent many years coaching his daughters, creating lasting memories both on and off the field. In recent years, he found great joy in continuing that passion by coaching, traveling with, and proudly supporting his granddaughter, Kinsey, throughout her softball career.

Shannon enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was a Honey Bun, a Fudge Round, or an ice-cold Dr Pepper, those small favorites always brought a smile to his face. More than anything, he treasured the time he spent with his family, who were the center of his life.

He is survived by his children, Nicole (Michael) Harvey, Latisha (Jeremy) Cochran, Erica (Stan) Smith, and Skyler Stone; his brother, Greg (Deborah) Stone; his grandchildren, Allie-Rae (Mark) Kennedy, Drew (Courtney) Smith, Kaytee (Cody) Ray, Emilee Smith, Mollie Harvey, Kinsey Cochran, and Carlie Harvey; his great-grandchildren, Ellie Ray, Jon Mark Kennedy, Cason Smith, and Eli Ray; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gwen Stone; his parents, Clinton "Peck" and Mary Stone; his brother, Chris Stone; and his beloved granddaughter, Karragan Cochran.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service to immediately follow.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to his Employer staff of Mobile Memorial Gardens for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care shown to Shannon and to our family. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Shawna Mayo. Your friendship, support, and kindness brought comfort during this difficult time and will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

Shannon will be remembered for his generous heart, dedication to his family, and the many lives he touched throughout his life. His memory will be cherished always by those who knew and loved him.
