At 1:08 a.m. on August 28, 2025, Sherryl P. Gause went to be with Jesus. She had a heart attack that left her too weak to keep her body alive. Sherryl was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, on January 3, 1948. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eston E. Gause, aka "Sonny;" one son; five grandchildren; and two brothers.
Sherryl worked in the food service industry for 20 years and her hobbies included gardening, stain-glass works, cake decorating and playing music. She was also competent at playing the flute, piano, and the baritone. She was extremely talented and strived for excellence in everything she did.
In the 1980's, Sherryl was an active member of Theodore United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in the women's softball team, youth choir, and as a director teaching aerobics. In the late 1980's, she found her dream home-a house with a big yard, but it had been completely burned on the inside. Together with her husband, Sherryl worked for over a year using her guidance and vision to completely remodel the home.
In 2015, Sherryl was diagnosed with lung cancer leaving her weak, sick, and this was accompanied with painful arthritis. Sherryl fought hard, and with the removal of 2/3rd's of her right lung, she finally beat the cancer but couldn't function as well as she once did.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
