Our precious son, husband, Daddy, and Pop Pop, Craig Cooper, met His Savior face to face on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Though our hearts are broken, we stand on and find solace in God's word: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him."
Craig, 58, was born on September 14, 1966 in Mobile, Alabama to O. Royce and Juliette Brown Cooper. His big brother, Brad Cooper, was not only his childhood playmate, but also his best friend.
Craig was a quiet leader, a man of unshakable and childlike faith. He spoke few words, but they were always filled with wisdom. He led his family well, always pointing them to the Lord. Being silly and laughing were two of his favorite pastimes, only coming behind loving his Jesus and his family. His countenance was filled with joy and his presence brought peace.
Craig was preceded in death by his father, O. Royce Cooper, his brother, Brad Cooper, his father in law, Larry Givens, mother in law, Donna Givens, sister in law, Chrissy Givens, and a grandchild, baby Jones, whom he is surely rocking and loving on right now.
Craig is survived by his loving mother, Julie Cooper, the love of his life, best friend, and sweetheart, Tami, and his adoring children: his first born baby girl who shared his tender heart, Kailan (Day Day) (Colton), his bucket list buddy and baseball loving son, Christian (Bub), his sweet and newest daughter, Kristen, his spunky princess, a carbon-copy of his humor, Kadie Grace (Gracie), his son-in-law, who quickly and easily became one of his best friends, Tyler, his mirror image in deep thought, quiet strength, and great faith, Nicholas (Nichol), his equally quick-witted, history, politics, and Braves-loving son, Jacob (Boose) (Kathlene), the fresh spark that brought so much joy to his days, his first grand baby, Lilah Grace (Smiley Liley aka Smilah), and his favorite pop-tart sharing, laser-loving furry little friend, Charli. He is also survived by his nieces, nephew, great nieces, and a plethora of friends.
The brightness he brought to this world will be greatly missed, but we know his legacy will live on through his family and all of the lives that he touched.
The funeral will be held from Dayspring Baptist Church on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11am. The family will receive friends from 9am until service time Friday at the church.
