Thad Erwin Montgomery, Jr. from childhood known as "Ted or Teddy, Dad, Pawpaw, Pawpaw M, and Pop', entered into the presence of our Lord, January 13, 2026 after a 7 year battle with health issues that never seemed to stop.
Born on October 5, 1946 to Ethland Archibald Montgomery and Thad Erwin Montgomery, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and sweet sister Shirley Montgomery Creel.
A graduate of Theodore High School in 1965 and after attended Faulkner Junior College for an Associate Degree. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard in the Vietnam Era, where he met some of the most valuable friends a man could have.
A General Contractor by trade and owner of T.E Montgomery Construction Inc., for over 30 years, of which he sold to his son who carried on his tradition and has been a member of the Home Builders Assoc. for over 45 years. He said it was retirement, but he decided to become Director of Inspections for Mobile County and retired "again" after 13 years.
Ted's personality and whit made him lifelong friends in every stage of his life.
He is survived by his cherished family, wife, Mary Lowell Montgomery, 2 daughters, Ashlee Montgomery Gordon (Duane Scott Gordon) and Melissa Montgomery Summey, son Robert Thad Montgomery (Stephanie Branham Montgomery), 6 grandchildren, Courtney Ann Gordon (A.J. Ludlow), Andrew Thad Montgomery (Carlen Mann Montgomery), Cameron Scott Gordon, Mallory Elizabeth Montgomery, Braxton Russell Summey (Krista England Summey) and Emily Summey Duke (Braxton Sterling Duke). 6 great grandchildren, Mason Scott Cosgrove, Lily Mae Ludlow, Emma Riis Montgomery, Margot Ann Ludlow, Parker Thad Montgomery, and Winston Barrett Summey, and his beloved sister, Betty Montgomery Baskin.
Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Friday, January 16th, 2025. The family will receive friends at 1 PM and services will be held at 2 PM in the chapel. Intermit will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The service will be provided by Dr. Derek Allen.
