Thelma Comer

Thelma E. Comer, age 97, beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Comer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Comer; her daughter, Catherine C. McGowan; her granddaughter, Stacie M. Cox; and her brothers, Walter O. Wojohn Jr. and Robert E. Wojohn.

She is survived by her sons, Robert L. Comer and W. Stephen (Jeanne) Comer of Mobile, AL; and her granddaughters, Elizabeth A. McGowan of Mobile, AL, and Leslie M. (Bill) Meyer of Atlanta, GA.

A longtime resident of Mobile, Mrs. Comer attended Murphy High School and remained engaged with her class reunions throughout her life. She was an active part of Oakdale Baptist Church and later Government Street Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member. She also took pride in her involvement with the German Society of Mobile.

The family extends special thanks to her devoted caregivers—Juanita Lynch, Pat King, Cyndee Yonge, Brenda Burch, Terri Rittelmeyer, and the hospice team at Gentiva, whose compassion and loving care are forever appreciated.

Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Tuesday, October 21, from 9am to 10am, with burial to follow.
