Obituary

Voncile "Vonette" Boutwell, 67, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 1, 1959, in Nashville, Tennessee, Vonette was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, niece, aunt, and friend. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and loved spending time with the people she cherished most.

In her younger years, she enjoyed hunting at the family hunting camp and fishing on the houseboat. She loved gardening, crafting, thrift shopping, birdwatching, working puzzles, and playing board games. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she delighted in creating warm memories and traditions for those she loved.

More than anything, Vonette treasured her family. Being "Mama" and "Nana" was the greatest joy of her life, and she loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Taylor and Lillian "Annette" Taylor, and her uncles, John Bolen and Hilton Bolen.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Michael Boutwell; her daughter, Kristen Duke, and her special son-in-love, Bryan Duke; her son, Brett Boutwell and her favorite daughter-in-law Kassidy; her grandchildren, Colton Duke, Brynn Duke, Maddox Boutwell, Cameron Martin, and Kyle Martin; her nephew, Damien Taylor; her uncles, Wilburn Bolen, David (Ramona) Bolen, and Jerald Bolen; her cherished Aunt Pat Bolen; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with a chapel service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Tiffanie for the compassionate and loving care she provided during Vonette's time on home hospice, and to The Retreat, Hospice by Saad, for their kindness, support, and dedication throughout her journey. Your compassion brought comfort not only to Vonette, but to our entire family, and we will be forever grateful.

Vonette will be remembered always for her tender, gentle, and loving heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the countless memories she leaves behind.

"Her children arise and call her blessed."
