Walter Dale
Henderson
Nov 21, 1938 — Jun 19, 2026
There are those whose lives pass quietly through the years and those whose lives become woven into the hearts of countless others, leaving behind a tapestry of love, service, and unwavering devotion, Walter Henderson was such a man.
At the age of 87, Walter peacefully entered the presence of his Lord, exchanging the burdens of this earthly life for the everlasting peace he so faithfully believed awaiting him. Though his earthly journey has reached its gentle conclusion, the story of his life continues to echo through every life he touched, every kindness he extended and every heart that was blessed to know him.
Walter was born in Laurel Mississippi, and found his lifelong home in Mobile Alabama. Where he built not merely a life but a legacy. He answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962. That same spirit of duty led him into a remarkable career dedicated to protecting and serving others.
He proudly served with the Alabama State Troopers, devoted for 35 years to the Mobile Police Department, and later his Commitment to his community through the Mobile County Parks and Recreation. To Walter, service was never simply a profession. It was an expression of his character.
Yet those who knew him loved him will remember him far more than the uniform he wore.
They will remember a man whose hands could tend a smoker until his barbecue became an act of love. A man endlessly fascinated by electronics, and never reluctant to fill a room with song or invite someone onto a dance floor.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his devoted wife, Linda Henderson. Whose years beside him were a testament to enduring love.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sons; Stephen and Kevin Henderson. His brothers; Larry and Danny Henderson. His sister; Janice Smith and a host of cherished nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by his quiet strength and generous spirit.
Though our hearts ache at his absence, we rejoice in the promise that guided his every step. We trust that he has now heard the words every faithful servant longs to hear,"well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord."
Walter Henderson was deeply loved, will be profoundly missed and will be forever remembered.
