Walter Newman

Walter "Billy" William Newman Sr, age 77 of Mobile, Al passed away April 26, 2023. He was born July 17, 1945 to Walter and Sabra Newman.

Billy was proud to have served his country in the U. S. Army. He did two tours of duty, his first tour in Vietnam in 1965 and again in 1968. Sgt Newman received three Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Medal with Device, Army Commendation Medal, 3 OS Bars, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Rifle M14.

He started work at Degussa Corporation where he worked for 37 years until his retirement. Billy was an avid hunter. He enjoyed being outdoors and above all loved turkey and deer hunting. He loved to fish in his pond and would spend hours working in his barn. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Sabra Newman and his wife Sandra Newman.

Billy is survived by his three sons, Bill (Rachele) Newman, Hurley, MS, Travis (Stacey) Newman, Dauphin Island, Al, Shalt (Leanne) Newman, Mobile, Al. One Step son Douglas (Sheri) McLaughlin. Ten grandchildren, Erica Newman, Katelyn Newman, Seth Newman, Blaine Newman, Sabra Newman, Katie Newman, Meagan Newman, Kayla McLaughlin, Madison Tyler. Allison McLaughlin. Three great-grandchildren, Carter Brown, Rhen Robbins, Nolan Akridge. One brother Roger (Mary) Newman, Guntersville, Al. Nieces Betsy Newman, Suzanne (Alan) Brown. Girlfriend Cyndy Landrum, Saraland, Al. Long time friend Nell Martin.

Pall bearers: Seth Newman, Blaine Newman, Roger Newman, Rassie Smith, Don Morgan, Roger Avery, David Avery, Alan Brown.

Walter Newman's visitation will be held on April 28th, 2023 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 11-12. Burial and graveside services will be held on April 28th, 2023 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 12 P.M.
