William Thomas Jernigan

W.T. ("Tommy") Jernigan, age 82, of Saraland, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His life was spent serving and helping others. He took great joy in spending time with his family, who were always most important to him.

His early childhood and entire career were spent at his family-owned business, Jernigan's Hardware and Building Supply, where he worked until retirement. During those years, he also built many homes throughout the Saraland and Satsuma areas. He truly enjoyed building and owned a construction business for many years.

Tommy was a lifelong member of Bethany Baptist Church, later known as KBBC, where he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and in any role where he was needed, until his health declined.

He will be deeply missed in every way.

Tommy is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Jernigan; father, "Red" Jernigan; brother, Danny Jernigan; and sisters, Bernice Jernigan Rubley and Jane Jernigan Cleveland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon Jernigan; his daughters, Tracey Jernigan Fincher and April Jernigan Cahoon; his grandchildren, Luke, Allie, Zane, and Kendall; and many dear friends and relatives.

Tommy's memorial service will be held on May 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, officiated by Henry "Digger" Creel and Tim Morgan. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
