William Speed

William (Billy) Joseph Speed, age 83 of Mobile, born September 21, 1939, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Billy was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 59 years, Barbara Speed.

Billy was an amazing father to their two sons, Scott Joseph Speed (Christine) of Mobile and Kevin Elbert Speed (Sherri) of Saraland, grandfather to Tanner Merchant (Caroline) (great grandchildren Aubrey and Wyatt) of Chunchula and Tana Merchant of Mobile. He is survived by Jeanette (Jean) Daniels of Mobile, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

Billy was a great man, always helping and volunteering, whether he knew you or not. His dedication to the Lord and his brothers and sisters was unprecedented. He was a very active member in his church, Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He touched many lives and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to have met him.

Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm in the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
