Woodward Esler Britt, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.

Born on October 17, 1943, to Denton and Martha Britt, Woodward lived a life defined by dedication to his family and his country. He honorably served in the United States Navy for four years before embarking on a successful 36-year career at Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Woodward was the beloved husband of Margaret Britt, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage and raised two children. Outside of his professional life, he was a passionate hobbyist who loved spending his free time flying remote-controlled airplanes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denton and Martha Britt; his sister, Barbara Davis; and his nephew, Bart Britt.

His memory will be cherished forever by his loving wife, Margaret; his children, Troy Britt and Aaron Britt; his grandchildren, Justin Britt and Lindsay Lund; and his great-grandchildren, Molly and Brady Britt. He also leaves behind his brothers, Blake Britt (Genie) and Andrew Britt (Donna), along with many extended family members and friends.

A service to honor and celebrate Woodward's life will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are kindly requested to gather at 9:30 AM prior to the service.
