ANN DIX DUKE

Ann Dix Duke passed away in Mobile on January 23, 2023, after a long illness. She was born in Warren, Arkansas and moved to Mobile at a young age. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Thelma Dix, her sister Janice Scarcliff, and her brothers Donald and Jerry. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Duke, Sr.; her three sons, Ward, (Candie), Benjamin (Kristin), and Brett (Amy); and her grandchildren Kelsey Duke, Owen Duke, Saura Duke, and Evan Duke. She graduated from Murphy High School.
Ann was instrumental in forming Mobile Ballet. For decades, she taught ballet to hundreds of young dancers, many of whom called her their "second mom". Some of her students later danced professionally. She was also the ballet mistress of the company and ran their school for many years.
A private family service will be held Friday, January 27.
