Charles Jackson

September 27, 1925 — January 8, 2020

Charles E. Jackson, Sr. was born in Pine Hill, Alabama on September 27, 1925 and died peacefully on January 8, 2020 at the age of 94.
After graduating from Thomasville High School he joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific. Upon return, he earned a degree in accounting from the University of Alabama. He started a life insurance agency in Thomasville and in 1956 relocated to Mobile. During his successful lifelong career of serving his clients he held leadership positions in several industry associations and received numerous awards. On arriving in Mobile he joined the Junior Chamber of Commerce and met many lifelong friends. One
close friend was Jack Edwards who, upon winning the race for U. S. Congress, chose Charlie to be his District Field Representative. This was the beginning of a passion for politics and he was active in many successful campaigns with his friend Bill Yeager.
He loved people and was a leader in many civic and business organizations.
In addition to his family his greatest love and work was for the Lord. He was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and prayer warrior. He was a founding member of Here’s Life Africa and was proud of the growth and number of lives touched with the water wells drilled and showing of the Jesus film through this ministry.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rev. Ernest Oliver Jackson and Bessie Brewer Jackson. His wife Jean (Dee Dee) Tuttle Jackson and siblings Bessie Mae Megginson, Robert, Ruth Pope and Paul.
He is survived by his wife Louise Roebuck Jackson, sons Charles Jackson (Stella), Tim Jackson and Kirk Jackson (Randy) and daughter Lisa Lucas (Phillip). His grandchildren Jamie, Claire, David (Claire) Charles (Lauren), Forrest (Jessica), John, Ellen, Jackson, Everette, Luke, Owen and two great grandchildren.
The family is appreciative of Janith, Frances, Roger, Ti, Jo and others who provided love, comfort and support.
