Clay Miller

Allen “Clay” Miller, 82, of Daphne, Alabama passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Clay was born in Mobile, Alabama on June 18, 1938 to Julius Charles and Mable M. Butts. He graduated Vigor High School in 1957. He was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church and a faithful follower of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He worked for Alabama Power for thirty-eight years. Clay loved to cook and fellowship with family and friends who enjoyed the many meals he prepared. He volunteered at Prodisee Pantry and shared in many benevolent services to others.  Clay loved sports, especially golf. He enjoyed coaching softball, hiking, and visiting the mountains. In his younger years he was a Golden Glove championship boxer. He cherished his time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always played a major role in their lives and was a constant fixture at their sporting events.

Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Charles and Mable M. Butts; his brother, Charles (Vicky) Butts of Mobile, Alabama; sister, Carolyn Pryor (Marvin) of Mobile, Alabama; grandson, Aimin Alothman of Mobile, Alabama.

Clay is survived by his wife, Patsy Panagakos Miller of Daphne, Alabama; his daughter, Cheryl Alothman (Will Barnes) of Mobile, Alabama; sons, Allen Keith Miller of Mobile, Alabama; Michael Craig Miller (Hanna) of Fairhope, Alabama; grandchildren, Mitchell Murphy (Samantha), Daphne, AL; Marissa Bowling (Dylan), Loxley, Alabama; Elizabeth Grace Miller, Fairhope, Alabama; Michael Craig Miller, Jr., Fairhope, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Austin Murphy of Daphne, Alabama; Stella Rose Murphy of Daphne, Alabama; brother, Coy Butts (Mary Nell) of Saraland, Alabama; sister, Betty Jean Sheffield (Tommy) of Mobile, Alabama; and other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile. Inurnment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
