Darrell Driskell

January 20, 1942 — September 21, 2022

Darrell Allen Driskell, age 80, passed peacefully into eternal rest at his home in Grand Bay, AL on September 21, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of the Union Church Community of Grand Bay, born at his childhood home on January 20, 1942, to John Allen and Mildred Dresselhaus Driskell. He was raised on the family farm with his five dear siblings. Growing up he enjoyed competing in sports and was an avid outdoorsman all his life. Darrell was a graduate of Mobile County High School, where he was a Varsity Letterman in basketball and football. In 1961, he married his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Joyce. They spent many wonderful years together raising their three beloved daughters all of whom had a special bond and devotion to their father. He was a doting grandfather to his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who all loved their PawPaw like no other. He had countless nieces, nephews, relatives, special friends and business colleagues whom he cherished. Through faith and hard work, along with the partnership of his family, Darrell built a multi-state farming operation. He was a steward of the land and an advocate for the agriculture industry. Throughout his lifetime he was a member of and served on the boards of local, state and national farm organizations. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where his love of the Lord deepened over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dillard Driskell. He is survived by his spouse, Joyce Yvonne Henley Driskell, children Lisa Sessions (David), Ashley Morgan (Steve) and Dana Roberts; grandchildren Amanda Ryan (Chris), Brandi Richardson (Brandon), Natalie French (Chandler), Adam Sessions (Brianna), Anna Marie Smith (Will) and Dawson Roberts; great-grandchildren Nona Marie Sessions, Margaret Roe Richardson, Bobby French, Ada James Smith, Hattie French and Grant Sessions. He is also survived by his siblings Marlene Lansing, Carol Pittman, Bert Driskell (Linda), Keith Driskell, and sister-in-law Myrna Driskell.
