Demar Allen Wilkinson
January 27, 1936 - April 15, 2022

Services for Demar Allen Wilkinson of Wilmer, Alabama, will be held in the Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 with Reverend George Riek and Reverend Davey Wilkinson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life and Burial will be at Carmel Baptist Church, Meridian, Mississippi at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 21, 2022 with Reverend Danny Balint officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service.

Mr. Wilkinson, age 86, was born in Philadelphia, MS and grew up in Meridian, MS. He was a 1954 graduate of Vimville High School. Mr. Wilkinson moved his family to Mobile in 1966 and worked most of his life as a brick mason for Masco Construction in Mobile. He was a deacon and faithful member of Orchard Baptist Church for 56 years.

Mr. Wilkinson leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 67 years, JoAnn Gibson Wilkinson and their three daughters, Wendy Pearman, Karen Balint (Danny) and Robin Bell (David). He and JoAnn have 7 grandchildren, Alicia Chambers (Kevin), Kelli Wilson (Jason), Katie Jones (Charles), Jake Pearman, Kerri Brown (Jason), Allen Balint and Luke Balint (Cayce) and 11 great grandchildren. He is loved by his sisters, Faye Hollingsworth (Richard) and JoAnn Reese, sister-in-law Glenda Wilkinson, numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wilkinson is preceded in death by his parents, Dalton D. and Josie Hardy Wilkinson, his brother, Doyce Wilkinson, sisters, Sue Jones and Mary Graham and son-in-law, Larry Pearman.

Mr. Wilkinson, was a Godly man who loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he and JoAnn enjoyed travelling in their motorhome to the races. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints. Mr. Wilkinson was well known for his chocolate fudge and enjoyed making it for family and friends. He once made his fudge live on the Morning Show on WKRG TV. To many he was affectionately known as "The Candyman."

Pallbearers will be Jason Wilson, Henry Wilson, Grant Wilson, Allen Balint, Luke Balint, Charles Jones and Jason Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Creel, Fred Bean, Jr. and Edwin Harper, Gerald Scott and the Men's Sunday School Class at Orchard Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Orchard Baptist Church (6960 Overlook Road, Mobile, Al 36618) or Carmel Baptist Church (1847 Hwy 19 S., Meridian, MS 39301).
