March 7, 1947 ~ May 22, 2021 (age 74)

Obituary

James Ronald 'Ron' Cauley, age 74, of Grand Bay, Alabama, passed away May 22, 2021 and now rests in the arms of his Savior. Ron was born in Pascagoula, MS to James and Teta Cauley on March 7, 1947. His parents blessed him with a brother a couple of years later and these two boys spent a lifetime as best friends. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a charter member of the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Ron was preceded in death by his parents James Ira and Teta Cauley. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Paullette Griffith Cauley; his children: Mark (Shannon) Cauley, Matt (Ambre) Cauley, and Karen (Robert) Sanchez; grandchildren: Patrick Cauley, Grace Cauley, Brandon Cauley, Ashley Cauley, Mattison Cauley and Meagan (Austin) Tucker. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Rhonda) Cauley; stepmother Betty Cauley; stepbrother Harold (Myla) Vaughn; and stepsister Linda Vaughn (Roy) Gasaway.

Ron grew up in the Pascagoula area and had no shortage of stories of adventure with his brother, friends, and cousins from those formative years. He met his forever love, Paullette Griffith in 1969 as co-workers at Ingalls and the two were married in 1970. In 1974 they moved to Grand Bay, AL where they raised 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and too many pets to count.

Ron enjoyed a successful career as a computer programmer and systems analyst for Ingalls Shipbuilding and later Singing River Hospital System from where he retired.

Stoic, funny, dedicated, strong work-ethic, dependable, and resourceful. These would be the typical words used to describe Ron Cauley. Ron was a man of few words, but his story was long. His interests were many and included: boating, hunting, fishing, classic cars, southern cooking, and rescuing dogs that needed a helping hand. He was notorious for his sense of humor and razor-sharp wit. And he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Thursday, May 27, 2021. Visitation will be at 12:00 followed by the funeral service at 2:00.
