James Wardlaw

James “Jim” Lee Wardlaw of Mobile Alabama passed away on April 13, 2020, at the age of 87. He was born in Alexander, Kansas on September 28, 1932, to Chester Francis and Edith Amanda Wardlaw. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter Jamie Lee Wardlaw, his wife of 45 years, Gisela Erika Wardlaw and his brother Michael Wardlaw.
“Jim” served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was awarded: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge in December 1954. He attended Wichita Technical College Studying in Architectural Engineering. This was the starting point for a 35-year career in Engineering. He began work for the US Army Corps of Engineers in November 1959 and retired on June 2, 1993. He then worked for FEMA for 2 years. His career allowed him to travel the world. He lived, worked or traveled to 37 different countries. Jim and Gis traveled the world, and they enjoyed over 40 cruises together. He was affiliated with: Springhill Lodge Masonic Lodge #896, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The Alabama Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by his twin sister Phyllis Neidigh; his brother, David D. Wardlaw; his son David Duncan, his two daughters; Marti Greeley and Emily Toth, his grandsons; Jeffrey Waldron and Casey Toth, granddaughter Hannah Barton, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His extended family Phillip, Lisa, Aaron, Ryleigh and Kennedy Eddins.
A private burial will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Ft., AL.
