Obituary

Kenneth Richard “Rick” Elliott, age 60, passed away suddenly on July 28th, 2020. Rick was born in Miami, Florida on May 18, 1960. He was a talented football player in his youth. He received a football scholarship to University of South Carolina. He met the love of his life, Wanda Shirley while attending college. After dating, thirty-seven years of marvelous marriage thrived and was lived. Soon after, two children were added to the family: a daughter, Danielle Carlene Elliott and a son, Richard Austin Elliott.

First and foremost, Rick was a loving husband, outstanding father, and amazing grandfather to his buddy, Parker. Rick was the shelter, the security, and the soul of the family. Rick loved life. He was the life of the party, especially during a Gamecock football game. Rick did not meet a stranger, for he would help anyone in need. His magnificent heart was big enough to love everyone he met. He valued every friendship he created.

After college, Rick became a retail manager. He managed many retail stores in Florida, Georiga and Alabama. He was a manager with compassion. He would treat his employees like family. Every single employee knew they could depend on Rick to be fair. He was able to play many hats without compromising his position as a retail manager. After twenty-five plus years, Rick moved on from retail to become an insurance adjustor for Pilot Catastrophe. Rick was able to empathize with his consumers on their needs and wants. He was able to be personable with his coworkers, consumers, and bosses. After many years with Pilot, he had created a family at Pilot.

After settling in Mobile, Alabama, Rick became a coach for many years. He thrived on being a coach for the baseball and football parks. He helped build and was a part of a community that focused on enriching young men’s talents and minds. Rick taught the young men everything he knew about football and baseball. He would see potential in all the young men on the field. Being on the football field, he was in his element.

Rick is survived by his wife, Wanda Elliott, his daughter, Danielle Elliott Bull, his son, Richard Elliott, his grandson, Parker Bull, his brother, Glenn Elliott, his sister in-law, Stacey Elliott, his niece, Bailey Alford(Judd), his niece, Morgan Smith(Landon), his nephew, Jake Elliott, his brother in-law, Joseph Shirley Jr., and his in-laws, Gail and Joseph Shirley.
