Lorene McGhee Roberts, 94, beloved grandmother, mother, sister, and friend was called to her eternal resting place on May 14, 2020. She entered this world on October 30, 1925, in Dadeville, AL, born to Luther and Lillian McGhee. She is preceded in death by her sons, Danny Wayne, and daughters, Belinda and Faye, and nine siblings. She is survived by her son, James D. Roberts; her granddaughter, Amanda Manzanilla; grandson-in-law, Joseph J. Manzanilla IV, and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Lily, and Makenzie.
Lorene, known by many at LeBistro's as 'Momma', was a long-standing member of the Order of Polka Dots. She even served as part of the Covenant Home Mardi Gras court in New Orleans. She lived unapologetically, speaking her mind, being true to her love of life and God, and protecting and caring for those she loved. Her fiery spirit and passion lives on in the hearts of family she leaves behind, and her strength continues to inspire.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Visitation: 12 Noon until 2 PM; Chapel service at 2 PM; then process to the Garden of Transfiguration behind Mobile Memorial Funeral Home.
