Marler Bennett

July 24, 1938 — January 22, 2023

Marler Lee Bennett, 84, of Mobile, was taken to Heaven by the Lord, on Sunday,

January 22, 2023. Marler was born on July 24, 1938 in Morton MS to Ralphael A. Bennett and Nancy Kelly Bennett.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 12:00 at Woodridge  Baptist

Church, Mobile, AL. Dr. Mack Morris and Rev. Garry Harred officiating.

Rev. Danny Baxter, Worship Leader, in charge of music.  Funeral arrangements by Memorial Gardens with Burial at Pine Crest Cemetery.

Marler grew up in Mobile and proposed to and married Fredna Jefcoat Bennett on June 3, 1961, his wife of 61 years. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church, Mobile, where he served as a deacon,  Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir singing

Bass. Marler loved the Lord, his church family and his church.

He was a student at University of Southern Mississippi when he married.

He was a resident of  Mobile and in 1963 was employed by the Mobile Police force in

Accident Investigation. He was employed by CSX Transportation as a trainman in 1966 and progressed to Locomotive Engineer with CSX until he retired.

He loved people and never met a stranger.  He loved to sing. He played golf and loved to watch  Alabama Football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raphael A. Bennett and Nancy Kelly Bennett, brothers, Donald Ray Bennett and James Kelly Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Fredna Jefcoat Bennett, daughter, Diana Bennett Gough

(Michael D. Gough). Two Grandsons, Tyler Bennett Yakola, Clayton Douglas Yakola.

Sister-in-law Mary Frances Bennett (Kelly Bennett, deceased), two nephews Richard Kelly Bennett (Rhonda Bennett), Donald Lee Bennett and a niece Pamela Ann Clark

(Donald Ray Clark) and their children and Grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers – donations can be given to Global Outreach International through

Woodridge Baptist Church, a ministry supported by our church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Bennett, Donnie Bennett, Jerry Story,

David Sanders, Don Smith and Dennis Richter.

Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers, Tyler Yakola, Clayton Yakola and

Barry Patterson.
