Sylvia Elizabeth Young Stollof left this earth in the presence of her Savior, May 31, 2020. She was born October 26, 1932 to Charles and Lizzie Mae Thompson Haden in Purvis, Mississippi. Sylvia’s family soon moved to Mobile, Alabama where she was a lifelong resident. She married Larry H. Young, Jr. and had four children. She was a beloved mother and homemaker who always put her children first. She later went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Stollof, Sr. and blended their families together. She cherished her many friends and family members and enjoyed daily coffee visits with them. She was a great cook with her most famous dish being Black Betty Chocolate Pies. Birdwatching was one of her favorite hobbies, and she had a particular love of hummingbirds and cardinals. Sylvia loved watching General Hospital, listening to Nat King Cole, and participating in the Brownsville Revival. She and her husband, Bob Stollof were members of the Tree of Life Messianic Congregation under Rabbi Eric Tokajer. She loved the Lord with all her heart and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.



Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stollof Sr.; daughter, Paula Bishop; son, Rodney Young, Sr.; and grandson, Rodney Young, Jr; and siblings Willie Dean Huggins, Mattie Jo Durham, and Hulot Haden. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Fant Moseley (George); son, Larry H. Young, III (Vickie); stepson, Robert Stollof, Jr. (Sylvia); honorary son, Steven Young (Melissa); daughter-in-law, Tonya Young; grandchildren, Lee Havel (Larry), April Read (Jason), Bubba Bishop (Rose), Thomas Fant, Amber Knott (John), Kyle Young (Shelli), Ashley Young, Christopher Young, and Korrina Cox; great-grandchildren, Leland Havel, Loren Underwood (Jayson), Jaxon Read, Ava Read, Katie Jacobs, Lakelynn Fant, Colton Young, and Cooper Young; great-great grandchildren, Apollo Underwood, Tovi Underwood, and Ayden Jacobs. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 1-2pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home followed by funeral services at 2pm at the chapel. Graveside will follow.
