Born on May 14, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama; passed away on October 23, 2021, in
Mobile, Alabama. He was previously a resident of Semmes, Alabama.
A 1965 graduate of Murphy High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force
where he served three tours in Vietnam (Cam Ranh Bay). He spent his military career
as an airman in avionic maintenance serving his country, making mischief, and
advocating for absentee voting rights for Alabamians. Richard was granted an
honorable discharge on July 21, 1970.
After attending the University of South Alabama, Richard spent the majority of his
civilian career with Industrial Valve in Saraland, Alabama, where he worked for 25
years, retiring in 2015. His great loves were his family, friends, Alabama football, catfish,
and Faith Academy girls' basketball.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Driskell Eubanks, and father, Claude
Cortel Eubanks; and his brother, Claude Michael (Mike) Eubanks, and sister, Jacqueline
(Sis) Dolores Eubanks James. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Janice Lane
Eubanks; daughter Paige Lane Eubanks-Barrow, son-in-law John Barrow, and grandson
James Whitney Barrow; daughter Whitney Joan Eubanks Vittor, son-in-law Barry Patrick
Vittor, granddaughters Roselin (Rose) Lane Vittor, Amelia Margaret Vittor, and Kathryn
(Kate) Corrine Vittor; brother Gary Wayne and Sandy Eubanks; brother Charles Ray
(Chuck) and Mary Lane Eubanks; brother James (Jim) Earl and Sherry Eubanks; and
brother Larry Grant and Donna Eubanks.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at Mobile Memorial
Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three-Notch Road, Mobile, AL, 36619. A reception, also
held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, will immediately follow Sunday's
memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be directed
to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the charitable organization of your choice.
